She went to work at an early age with Anderson Memorial Hospital as a nursing assistant where she met John, the love of her life for 47 years. Mrs. McCalla dedicated 30 years to the Anderson County School District 3, caring for many children. Most importantly, Mrs. McCalla was a mom, who loved and adored her two sons, never missing a ballgame, school event or art lesson.

Fred James Johnson, age 77, died October 14th, 2022 at home, from heart related issues. He was born on April 17th, 1945 in Melrose, Kansas to James Luther and Effie Mae Johnson. Fred married Cynthia Sue , in Great Bend, in 1964. They move to Lewis, Kansas when Fred started working for Cross Mfg. and then moved to Kinsley, Kansas for a few years, then finally moving to Trousdale, Kansas in 1973. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McCalla was preceded in death by a sister, Winton Lewis; three brothers, Julius ‘Buddy’ King, Osborne King and Allen King.
